Seven Sickened by Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

CHARLOTTE, NC — Seven people are recovering from carbon monoxide poisoning after someone left a car running inside a closed garage.

Four of the victims are police officers who responded to the house on Cinebar Road Thursday morning.  One officer and three people who were in the home remain in the hospital.  WCCB Charlotte spoke to a shaken-up relative.

“I just heard the car was accidentally left running, and there’s just carbon monoxide poisoning in the house,” said Brian Martinez, a victim’s cousin.

Firefighters say there were no carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
