CMPD: Detectives Charge 2 Men For Four Robberies In Southwest Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD detectives say Kevin Lopez, 27, and Keishaun Anderson, 18, are under arrest for four robberies that took place in southwest Charlotte on November 1st.
Lopez is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to a news release.
Investigators say Anderson is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault on a government official.
Detectives say around 12:30 a.m. on November 1st, officers responded to an attempted robbery on Nations Ford Road where a victim says an armed man tried to enter the business with a shotgun, but the victim was able to lock the doors before he could enter.
Police say 30 minutes into their investigation, they received another call about an armed individual attempting to enter a business on South Tryon Street.
The victim in this case says the armed subject was holding a long gun and was unable to enter the business before the victim zip tied the doors shut, according to a news release.
Officers say after 1 a.m. they responded to a separate armed robbery on South Tryon Street, where the victim says someone pointed a shotgun at him, took property belonging to the business, and took off in a Nissan Altima.
Police say not even 30 minutes later they responded to another armed robbery on Steele Creek Road, where the victim in this case says an armed suspect pointed a shotgun at them and left the business with belongings of the business.
Investigators say with the information provided to them by the community from the previous incidents, they were able to find the Nissan Ultima and arrest the two occupants outside an apartment complex.
Detectives say Lopez was driving with Anderson in the passenger seat, and officers found a shotgun and property belonging to the businesses that were robbed inside the Nissan Ultima.
Lopez and Anderson have been taken into custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where they face charges, according to a news release.
