LENOIR, N.C. — Manager of a Lenoir motel, 40- year-old Urmil Patel, and another man, 30-year-old Jerry Lindsey, faces several drug-related charges after a police search on Tuesday.
Police say complaints from the public led them to the Day’s inn, in the 200 Block of Blowing Rock Boulevard. Police obtained a warrant to search room 116, where they found 7 grams of crack cocaine, 12 grams of marijuana, 9 oxycodone pills, and $2,000 cash.
Investigators believe Lindsey was renting the room as a place to sell drugs, and Patel was also involved in the operation. Lindsey was arrested at another location later that day.
Both Patel and Lindsey have been charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute cocaine; maintaining a dwelling to sell or distribute drugs; trafficking heroin or opium by possession; and possession of marijuana.
