CHARLOTTE,NC–Relief for a father extremely close to deportation.
Luiz Zarco feared he would have to leave his three children in Charlotte, Wednesday a judge awarded a green card to him at his final immigration hearing.
Before the verdict supporters rallied for Zarco to stay in the US.
Zarco was flagged for being in the country illegally when police arrested him for driving without a license in 2011.
Luis Zarco will be able to apply for citizenship in five years.
