The 19th Annual Best of Badin Festival, is scheduled for Friday and Saturday September 20th-21st, 2013 in Badin, North Carolina. Badin celebrates 100 years in 2013. Each year on the third weekend in September, the town hosts a celebration of the community’s origins, as they welcome fall with a festival.
There will be live music and entertainment, craft vendors, food vendors, inflatable rides for the kids, guided visits through all three Badin museums, antique and archeological displays, Friday night street dance and tours of the Narrows Dam Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This year’s festival will also feature some new attractions with a classic costume competition, best-beard contest, dress and hat displays and a host of other activities.
On Saturday, the Best of Badin Festival hosts the annual Run the Valley 5K-10K-Half Marathon. The Half Marathon, considered North Carolina’s Most Challenging, is back for a ninth year and this year marks the 17th Annual Run the Valley 10K. These out and back courses offer rolling hills and beautiful rural scenery as you run down Valley Drive’s Scenic Byway. For the thirteenth year, you may also choose to run or walk this fitness 5K and enjoy the rural landscape as you go. This course follows the same route as the 10K with the turnaround marked on Valley Drive.
