CLOVER, S.C. – Doug and Debbie London’s Tioga Road home is hidden by trees and in a quiet, well-to-do, Lake Wylie waterfront neighborhood. It certainly doesn’t seem like the type of home that a criminal would just stumble upon. Law enforcement officials agree. “We don’t believe this is a random act of violence. So there’s no danger that we perceive right now to the public,” says York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris.Β

At 8:30 Thursday night, someone called 911 from the home. When deputies arrived, they found 63-year-old Doug and 61-year-old Debbie dead from gun shot wounds. No one has been arrested yet.Β

One neighbor tells WCCB Charlotte the couple was friendly and that she often saw Debbie out walking their small dogs. Β In general, the Londons were well thought-of.Β
Β
The London’s son, Daniel, shared a message on social media late Friday where he calls his parents “the best in the world” and asks to “please keep my family in your prayers and treasure those that you love and care about.”Β
Β
In May, the London’s mattress business on South Boulevard was robbed at gun point. Doug shot one of the suspects, badly injuring them. Friday, a sign hung on the business door that read “closed today due to family emergency.”
Β
Clover resident Angela Busque says the couple’s murder puts her on edge. She says, “I’m gonna set my alarm tonight, kiss my kids a little tighter (sic), hold them a little tighter.”Β
Β
York County detectives say they are “fully investigating” this case. WCCB Charlotte asked for a copy of the 911 call, which is public record. Investigators declined, saying the call is part of the investigation.
