CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A police officer was involved in a crash in east Charlotte. Investigators say the two vehicle accident happened just before 1pm on Independence Boulevard at North Sharon Amity Road.
Police say the driver of a SUV attempted to make an illegal U-turn onto North Sharon Amity Road and was t-boned by the officer’s vehicle. The officer was not injured.
The driver of the SUV and three passengers were pinned in the vehicle and had to be rescued by emergency crews.
Police say the driver of the SUV was issued a citation for making an illegal left turn. Two of the occupants in the SUV were also issued citations, one for possession of drug paraphernalia and one for open container.
