6 Shot, Including 2 Police Officers, At Gastonia Nightclub
GASTONIA, N.C. — Six people were shot, including two police officers, outside of a Gastonia nightclub late Thursday night, Gastonia police say.
The incident happened at Remedies, a nightclub located on Union Road, around 11 p.m. Police say officers were working off-duty at the nightclub when they attempted to de-escalate a situation.
During the de-escalation attempt two officers were shot. According to police, Sergeant E. Nelson and Officer M. Lewis sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Four patrons were also shot and sustained minor injuries.
Following the incident, two suspects are in custody. Police say Alonzo Hamilton, 30, and Allen Slaughter, 29, have been charged with six felony counts each of AWDWIKISI (Assault With Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury).
