Police: Brothers shot, leaving one dead in Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C.– The Statesville Police Department is investigating a shooting early Sunday morning that left one person dead.

Statesville Police responded to reports of people fighting in the road near the 1000 block of Wilmington Avenue at 5:09 a.m. Sunday.

While officers were in route, they received a second report that shots were fired in the same area.  

When they arrived they found a large group of people outside.  They found a Leon Tremaine Bradshaw, 38, of Statesville lying in the doorway of the home with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.  

Bradshaw was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital and died from his injuries.

While officers were at Iredell Memorial Hospital a second victim arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs.  Officers say Deleon Carshar Dalton, 34, of Statesville also was shot at the home on Wilmington Avenue.  

Police say the two victims are brothers and were attending a party when the shooting happened.

Dalton was treated for his injuries and later released from the hospital.
