CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One man is dead after he lost control of his car in traffic and wrapped the vehicle around a tree near Albemarle Road and Winterhaven Drive early Sunday afternoon.
Yoan Alberto Hernandez Tosca was traveling at a high speed and was weaving in and out of cars traveling in the same direction when he lost control of his car, overcorrected and struck a tree.
A passenger, Rangel Garcia Cabrera, was seriously injured in the accident.
Both men were transported to Carolina’s Medical Center. Tosca was pronounced dead at the hospital.
CMPD said they’re amazed that no other vehicles were involved as there was heavy traffic in the area.
Speed is a factor in the wreck, but police are unsure as to whether alcohol played a part in the accident.
