A Chicago pilot is being praised for turning a highway into a runway. The pilot said he was flying over Lake Michigan when the single engine plane started shaking.

It was too rough to make it to  the airport. The pilot told the control tower he was going to make an emergency landing on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive.

“I’m on the ground I’m alive it’s history. my god was looking out for me and no one else was hurt. I can say when you fly you look for a place to land at all times,” said John Pederson, pilot.

Two cars nudged the plane’s wing right after he landed. No one was hurt.
