Police: Suspect Accused Of Shooting Food Lion Manager In Custody

UPDATE: Police say Bill Mudd Jr. turned himself in to authorities Monday morning in connection to this shooting.  Investigators believe this was a domestic related shooting.  Mudd has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.  

LENOIR, NC – A manager at a Food Lion in Lenoir, shot multiple times in the parking lot and left for dead Sunday morning. The man accused of shooting him is still on the run.

Investigators say 44-year-old Bill Mudd Jr. opened fire at the grocery store on Wilkesboro Boulevard Sunday morning.

The victim, 50-year-old Michael Ray Keller, was flown to CMC in Charlotte for treatment.
 
The Lenoir Police Chief says the two knew each other.
 
The victim’s Aunt spoke with WCCB. She said Keller is a hard working man and an all around good guy.
 
She says there are rumors floating around about what led to the shooting, but right now she’s not sure what happened.
