A massive manhunt is underway near Chicago for three suspects wanted for murdering a police officer.  Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, a 30-year veteran of the Fox Lake Police Department, was shot while chasing the three men Tuesday morning.

Tuesday’s murder comes on the heels of another police shooting.  That one in Houston, Texas, where a sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed while pumping gas.

According to the website Officer Down Memorial Page, 23 officers across the country have been killed in the last nine months.  Meanwhile, closer to home, the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police says it will push for legislation that would make shooting a police officer a hate crime.

So what do you think?  Should killing an officer be classified as a hate crime?
