CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their firefighters who was killed in a car crash in Richmond County, officials say.
The crash happened in Hamlet, North Carolina on Monday.
The fire department stated Tuesday that firefighter Patric Saunders died in a motor vehicle accident. He was off-duty at the time of the accident.
Saunders joined the ranks of the Charlotte Fire Department in October 2015 and was currently assigned to Fire Station 21.
The CFD released a statement saying:
“The fire service mourns the loss of a devoted and beloved member. Please keep the family, friends, and department members in your thoughts and prayers.”
