STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department say 21-year-old Javier Roberto Hernandez is under arrest for felony indecent liberties with a child.

Detectives say on Thursday, December 12th 2019 the Sheriff’s Department received a report from a school official at East Iredell Middle School saying a child was making statements of sexual assault.
The student reported she had been sexually assaulted outside of school by a family friend, according to a news release.
Detectives say Hernandez was identified during an interview conducted with the victim at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center.
Detective Sergeant Katie Campbell says she was able to get a felony arrest warrant for Hernandez after gathering evidence during the investigation.
Police say Hernandez was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center on January 16th, 2021, and is being held under a $20,000 bond.
