A Cold Night Ahead with More Sunshine Wednesday
Another cold and windy night with lows in the teens and 20s.
Wind Advisory until 7 am Wednesday across the High Country.
Wind Chill Advisory from 10 PM Tuesday until 10 AM Wednesday for Ashe, Watauga, and Avery counties.
Β A ridge of high pressure dominates our weather until clouds increase once again on Thursday ahead of our next weather system. Expect clouds to continue decreasing through the evening and overnight hours with lows bottoming out in the teens and 20s – that is for actual low temperatures. Factor in the wind and it will feel like 0Β° (at times below that) across theΒ High Country with “feels like” temperatures in the teens and 20s for the Piedmont. Our next best chance for rain is Friday as scattered showers move into the area and stick around through the weekend.
I am watching model trends for an early next week major arctic outbreak. This could bring the coldest air theΒ Charlotte area has seen in 3 years. This is still about a week away so a lot will change with this outlook. If the arctic front makes it all the way to Charlotte, we see frigid temperatures. If it pulls eastward just north of us, it will be cold, but not single-digit cold.Β
Tonight: Partly Cloudy. Low: 26Β°. Wind: NW 5-15.
Wednesday: Sunny. High: 52Β°. Wind: W/NW 5-15.
Wednesday Night: Mostly Clear. Low: 25Β°. Wind: NW 5-10.
Thursday: Increasing clouds. High: 53Β°. Wind: S/SW 5.
Have a wonderful week!
