Detectives Say Police Chase Turned Serious Accident After Wanted Vehicle Located

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say one person fled from officers in their car and crashed in east Charlotte, after officers attempted to stop the wanted vehicle for its involvement in a violent crime.

Officers say they tried to conduct the traffic stop on Thursday around 3 p.m. when they received a license plate hit on the vehicle, but when the vehicle refused to stop, a pursuit began.

The car chase continued until the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Parkwood Avenue and Seigle Street, according to a news release.

Police say the driver has been detained and was taken to Atrium CMC for serious injuries received in the crash.

Officers say they are actively investigating this incident.
