The good news: the Panthers have finally landed a wide receiver. Former Pittsburgh Steeler Jerricho Cotchery signed a two-year contract today.
But here’s the not-so-good news: Just like Smitty, the North Carolina State alum is practically over the hill in NFL years. He’s also worn the number 89 for most of his career.
Here’s the scorecard: Jerricho Cotchery is 31 and a 10-year veteran. Smitty, on the other hand, is 34 and a 13-year vet. Cotchery caught 10 touchdowns last season (his career high) while Steve Smith caught four.
