Sunny Sunday, Messy Monday Ahead
The rain returns by Monday, but more sunshine will carry us through the middle portion of the final week of February.
This weekend is off to a gorgeous start and we can expect the good times to keep on rolling into Sunday. Sunny skies and highs near 50º will continue into the second half of the weekend, but our beautiful reprieve will be interrupted by clouds and rain by Monday morning. Some patchy sleet and freezing rain may mix in north of I-40 in the morning, but wintry impacts should be a nuisance at best. More widespread rain will sweep in by the afternoon, which could dump upwards of a quarter-inch across the board before clearing overnight into Tuesday. High pressure will set up to our southeast by midweek, pumping in warm and stable air into the Carolinas. Sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 60s will settle in by Thursday before another round of rain arrives at the end of the week.
