LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A 22-year-old woman wanted for crimes in multiple counties was arrested Monday during a Lincoln County traffic stop.
Deputies performed the stop on an SUV on Highway 150 West at Old Lincolnton Crouse Road around 3 a.m. The stop was performed after deputies noticed the vehicle had a valid license plate but the registered owner of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license.
The driver of the SUV gave deputies a valid driver’s license, but a passenger gave officers a fake name. Cynthia Diane Chavis, of Crouse, gave officers another name and produced identification for that person. One deputy at the scene recognized the Chavis and checked the Lincoln County Communications Center which revealed she was wanted on outstanding warrants in Cleveland and Gaston Counties.
Lincoln County deputies charged Chavis with felony identity theft and misdemeanor resisting a public officer and false information to an officer. She was also served with outstanding warrants for larceny, driving while license revoked, financial identity fraud, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, displaying an expired registration plate, no liability insurance, and possession of stolen goods and conspiracy, according to deputies.
