Β CHARLOTTE, NC — We are one week from election day, and Republican Thom Tillis is getting big-name help racing to the finish line in his campaign for U.S. Senate. Β Tillis toured Hendrick Motorsports in Concord Tuesday with U.S. Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Β
McCain says Tillis would be stronger than incumbent Kay Hagan on military and national security issues. Β He says the Tillis-Hagan race is critical if Republicans want to take back the Senate. Β Graham thinks recent poll numbers make Hagan vulnerable.
“This is one of those races that it’s very important what we win, and it will be in many ways, a bellwether for the rest of the country,” said McCain (R, AZ).
“I really believe this is Thom’s race, if we have the right turnout, because if you’ve an incumbent tied a week before the election, the undecided vote is not going your way,” said Graham (R, SC).
Tillis isn’t the only one getting big-name support on the campaign trail. Β Political heavyweight Hillary Clinton joined Senator Kay Hagan at the Charlotte Convention Center on Saturday. Β The former Secretary of State touted Hagan’s record on women’s issues, equal pay for women and minimum wage. Β Hagan spent time Tuesday campaigning in Asheville.
WCCB Charlotte is your election headquarters. Β We will have live team coverage from the U.S. Senate race, to the race for Sheriff of Mecklenburg County. Β Look for complete coverage on air and online November 4.
