CMPD Chief Holds Private Community Meeting After Child & Teens Shot in NW Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A community is calling for action after a seven-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet on Marble Street in Northwest Charlotte on Tuesday night.
Two teens were also shot just blocks away on Hovis Road.
We’ve learned the seven-year-old girl is now in stable condition in the hospital.
Police have arrested and charged three suspects.
Neighbors say they’re growing frustrated with the violence.
“I have a six-year-old who now, every time he hears a loud bang, he’s running and jumping in my arms as if it’s coming through the house,” says Northwest Charlotte resident Eunice Payne.
CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings held a private meeting with people in the community at Hoskins Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesday.
Neighbors say they want a stronger police presence in the community, and they’d also like to see the department partner with grassroots organizations.
