
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are searching for the person accused hitting a bicyclist and fleeing the scene in East Charlotte.
The suspect struck the man on his bicycle at the intersection of North Sharon Amity and Central Avenue.
David Spranger was riding his bicycle in the right lane of Central Avenue when a silver Ford Windstar minivan struck his rear tire throwing Mr. Spranger from the bicycle.
The minivan stopped briefly then fled the scene on North Sharon Amity. Mr. Spranger was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
Witnesses, video surveillance, and vehicle debris found at the scene have identified the suspect vehicle as a Silver Ford Windstar minivan. the year of the minivan is said to be between a 1999-2003 model. The minivan will have minor front end damage from striking the bicycle and may have damage to the hood and passenger side windshield.
