Mother Wanted on Child Abuse Charges

CHERRYVILLE, NC — A Cherryville mother wanted on felony child abuse charges was nowhere to be found Friday night.

Police have warrants out for the arrest of Taylor Wilhelm.  Gaston County Police say she brought her 14-month-old to Caromont Regional Medical Center with blunt force trauma injuries.  The abuse reportedly happened between January and February.

The man Wilhelm lived with, Matthew Jenkins, is charged with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a child.

The child is in foster care.
