Increasing Winds & Lower Humidity Friday

Increasing fire danger in wake of overnight cold front

Wind Advisory in effect from 6 AM – 6 PM Friday. This includes counties north of I-40 as winds could gust up to 50 mph across the Mountains and the Foothills.

** With increasing winds and low relative humidity behind the front, there is also a Fire Weather Watch in effect from 12 PM – 8 PM Friday. Outdoor fires could easily grow out of control so burning is not recommended.

There is an isolated rain chance tonight as a cold front marches across the area. This front will not have much rain with it so widespread measurable rain is not expected – the best chance for showers will be in the Mountains. We will “cool down” on Friday and Saturday in wake of the cold front – expect highs on Friday in the upper 70s near 80, with mid 70s on Saturday. We stay dry through the weekend.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Cold front. Isolated showers. Low: 65. Wind: SW 10-20.

Friday: Sun. Windy. Lower humidity. High: 79. Wind NW 10-20. G: 35 (Piedmont) G: 50 (Mtns)
