CHARLOTTE, NC — A massive crackdown on child prostitution is underway. Monday, the FBI moved in to rescue nearly 200 children and arrest 281 suspects around the country. Three of those arrests happened in Charlotte. Investigators targeted truck stops, websites and strip clubs in more than 100 cities.
“The lesson of Operation Cross Country is that our children are not for sale, that we will respond and crush these pimps who would crush these children,” said FBI Director James Comey.
This is the eighth time the FBI has coordinated a nationwide crackdown on child prostitution.
