Still Below Average, but Gradually Warming

After feeling more like a March day across the Carolinas, temperatures will gradually rise and rain chances will fall. Wednesday afternoon has been colder in the Carolinas than almost anywhere else in the United States as afternoon temperatures have been nearly 30 degrees below average! There is a Frost Advisory in effect for Avery county from midnight tonight until 8 AM Thursday as lows drop to the mid-upper 30s across the High Country. People living in the Mountains should cover their plants to be on the safe side. Overnight low temperatures across the Piedmont bottom out in the mid 40s with decreasing clouds. Thursday will be a much better day, but still below average. Expect a mix of sun and clouds and only a slim isolated PM rain chance. High temperatures will gradually rise through the end of the week and into the weekend.
