Silver Alert Cancelled For 84-Year-Old Gastonia Man

The Gastonia Police Department says that the Silver Alert for 84-year-old William Holmes has been cancelled after he was located Friday.

Holmes has returned home and is safe, according to authorities.

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Silver Alert has been issued for missing, endangered 84-year-old William Holmes in Gastonia.

Officials say he is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive issues.

Gastonia Police say Holmes was last seen on Green Circle Drive, off of East Davidson Avenue, around 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.

He was said to have left the location to look for gas in his 2015 Dodge Caravan with the license tag listed as #YYM-3546. The vehicle also has damage to the rear right tail light. (The picture provided is not the actual van but a similar vehicle.)

According to authorities, he has been described as being 5’11” to 6’ tall and weighs around 165 pounds. Holmes has a thin build with short, thin hair and a mustache.
