Stray Storms Monday, Summer-Like Heat Lurks
The first 90º day of the year could arrive as soon as this coming Saturday.
Who’s ready for some beautiful days on the water ahead? As we head into the back half of May, our first 90º day could be just around the corner. For now, we’ll have to settle for temperatures near 80º in the Piedmont and closer to 70º in the mountains. Expect variable clouds throughout our Monday, as isolated showers and storms could erupt mainly north of the Metro. Sparse shower coverage is also possible on Tuesday, although most of us should stay dry for much of the week ahead. Lows through midweek will remain in the 40s and 50s. However, by the time we get to Wednesday, abundant sunshine returns to the forecast. The clear skies paired with warm breezes out of the southwest could be enough for the Charlotte area to crack 90º for the first time since September 2020 by next weekend.
