CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) β Clemson has upgraded injured quarterback Deshaun Watson’s status to “doubtful” for its game with Wake Forest. At the start of the Tigers bye week, Watson was listed as “out” for Thursday night’s contest against the Demon Deacons with a broken bone in his throwing hand. The school’s updated injury list was released yesterday.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Roger Penske has given his unwavering support to driver Brad Keselowski, who has now been involved in two post-race fights in four races. Keselowski was confronted by Jeff Gordon following Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway. Kevin Harvick pushed Keselowski from behind into a scrum of crew members. That ignited a brief brawl.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) β North Carolina has suspended junior tailback Romar Morris for the Nov. 15 game against Pittsburgh, a move that came after he was charged with driving while impaired. The school says the suspension is for an unspecified violation of team rules.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β North Carolina State’s long losing streak in Atlantic Coast Conference play is over. So too is a tough five-game midseason stretch that threatened to push the Wolfpack into a repeat of last year’s struggles. Now, heading into Saturday’s home game against Georgia Tech, N.C. State is a win away from bowl eligibility.
