
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon could be in more trouble with the law. Β
Election officials say Cannon, a convicted felon, voted on October 30th. Β It is illegal for convicted felons to vote in elections. Β
Cannon pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges on October 13th. Β He was sentenced to 44 months in prison. Β However, he did not have to immediately report to jail. Β
Chief US Probation Officer Greg Forest says Cannon will have to go before Judge Frank Whitney because he voted illegally. Β Cannon could be placed in federal custody for violating the conditions of his bond.
