CHARLOTTE, NC — Teachers in Mecklenburg County will not be getting a raise. Voters have overwhelmingly said “No” to a quarter-cent sales tax hike.
The increase was expected to generate an estimated $28 million for teacher salaries. There was concern that Superintendent Dr. Heath Morrison’s unexpected resignation would impact the outcome of the referendum.
