Charlotte’s Walk For Wishes This Weekend

Walk for Wishes® is a family-friendly, community walk that benefits Make-A-Wish® Central and Western North Carolina. Participants may walk individually, or form a team with friends, family and colleagues to support Make-A-Wish’s mission to grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Participants will walk arm in arm with wish children and their families to celebrate the hope, strength and joy that a child’s one true wish captures. Every time a wish is granted, a child’s life is enriched with much needed hope, strength and joy. As hope and optimism replace fear and stress, a wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic and more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. In addition to improving a child’s emotional health, 89% of nurses, doctors, social workers and child life specialists surveyed say they believe the wish experience can also influence a wish child’s physical health. Walk for Wishes provides an opportunity for our community to raise funds and share in the power of not just one, but every wish!

Right now, children in Central & Western North Carolina are facing life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish® offers a chance for them to look forward to something great in their future … an opportunity to feel normal and to experience their idea of life at its best. You can help by joining a Walk For Wishes® event in your community. Charlotte’s Walk For Wishes is this Saturday, November 8, at Romare Bearden Park (300 S Church St, Charlotte, NC 28202). You can register your team at walkforwishesNC.org!
