SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) β Brett Wallace hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to lift the San Diego Padres to a 3-3 tie in 10 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Yonder Alonso had three hits and Odrisamer Despaigner, competing with Brandon Morrow for the final spot in San Diego’s rotation, allowed one run and seven hits over five innings.
Arizona’s Chase Anderson gave up one run and six hits over six innings in his longest outing of the spring.
Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the second on A.J. Pollock’s RBI single. San Diego tied it in the third on Jeff Kemp’s RBI grounder.
Pollock had an RBI single in the sixth against Padres reliever Kevin Quackenbush for a 2-1 lead.
The Diamondbacks added a run in the seventh before Wallace tied the game 3-3 with a two-run homer to center off right-hander Allen Webster.
