Discussion
Another gorgeous day with highs reaching the mid 80s across the region. This pleasant airmass will be replaced this weekend with more heat and humidity. Highs will soar into the low 90s Friday. Even hotter for Saturday as a surge of gulf moisture settles into the region. Invest 92-L will likely become tropical in the central Gulf late today into early Friday, bringing rain and storms to the northern Gulf by late Friday. A boundary to our north will guide this tropical system into the southeast bringing rain and storms to the Carolinas by late Sunday. I would suggest you make those outdoor Father’s Day plans earlier in the day rather than later. Showers and storms will impact the region through the early part of the week with 1-3″ of rainfall looking likely at this point.
