Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon’s Prison Assignment Released

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon has received his prison assignment. Β 

Officials say he will report to federal prison on November 18th. Β He will serve his 44 month sentence at a prison in West Virginia. Β 

Cannon is currently in federal court facing a judge for violating the conditions of his bond by illegally voting in the midterm election. Β 

Cannon became a convicted felon after he pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges. Β It is illegal for felons to vote in elections.

U.S. District Court Judge Frank Whitney could force Cannon to immediately begin his prison sentence for violating his bond. Β This is a developing story. Β Check back for updates.
