CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A suspect trying to get away from police is blamed for causing a nasty crash that caused a major traffic jam in south Charlotte.
Emergency crews closed Pineville-Matthews Road between Rea Road and Raintree Lane for three hours Thursday night. Officers say, a man they were attempting to arrest, stole a car, and caused several wrecks before he struck an officer’s patrol car.
The suspect ran off and was arrested a short time later. The officer was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
