The Strawberry Full Moon

June's Full Moon is often called the Strawberry Moon

The Strawberry Full Moon rises tomorrow and it is the last supermoon of 2021! June’s full moon got the name ‘Strawberry Moon’ due to the wild strawberries that start to ripen during early summer.

Here is a view of the Strawberry Moon from Rock Hill, South Carolina Wednesday evening:

Why supermoon? A supermoon occurs when the Moon’s orbit is closer to Earth at the same time the Moon is full. Supermoons are usually about 7% bigger and about 15% brighter than a “regular” full moon.

Weather conditions will be good for viewing the full moon across the WCCB Charlotte area with Partly Cloudy skies Thursday evening.

Thursdays full moon will set at 5:45 AM and rise again at 9:02 PM. The moon will technically be full Thursday, June 24th at 2:39 PM.
