New Jersey Man Facing Child Sex Crime Charges In Iredell County

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A New Jersey man is facing several charges after the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said he sent inappropriate messages to a local North Carolina child in 2019.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation sparked in March 2019 after a report was filed stating that a man was sending messages. This local investigation eventually reached Cedar Grove, New Jersey after evidence indicated the messages came from there. The local police station in New Jersey were notified and eventually filed charges against Jonathan Trumble based off of evidence gathered.

Deputies said on May 8, 2021 they were notified of new evidence in the investigation. A new investigation was launched after a child victim was taken to the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center and interviewed. Following the victim’s statement, more witnesses were located and interviewed leading to numerous search warrants being executed.

Deputies were able to get felony arrest warrants against Trumble for crimes which had occurred here in Iredell County. The Cedar Grove Police Department were able to arrest Trumble after he was entered as a wanted person.

Trumble was transported back to the Iredell County Detention Center on June 11 and charged with two counts of felony statutory rape, felony statutory sex offense, felony indecent liberties with a minor, and felony kidnapping, deputies said. He was issued a $1 million secured bond for these charges.
