Deputies: Son Killed Father and Stole Bank Card

SALISBURY, N.C. — A Salisbury man who is wanted for the murder and robbery of his own father, may be in the Charlotte area. Deputies say they were called to check on Kenny Smith, Sr., at Pineview Circle around 10:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found Smith Sr. dead inside his home. 

 

Evidence gathered at the scene determined that Kenny Smith, Sr. was murdered. Detectives say Smith’s son, 44-year-old Kenny “Pee Wee” Smith, Jr., was not at the home along with the victim’s bank card. Detectives say both men lived at the home and have determined Smith Jr. to be the suspect in this case. 

 

Detectives have signed arrest warrants for Kenny Smith, Jr.,  for robbery and murder. He is believed to be in the Charlotte area driving a 1997 green Acura, with NC tag VZC 1356. Anyone who has seen or has information in regards to this case is asked to call Rowan County Sheriff’s Office or contact local law enforcement. 

 

*Update: The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says Kenny Smith, Jr., has been located in a motel room in Charlotte. Information provided indicates Kenny Smith, Jr. committed suicide.
