Flash Flood Watch in effect for the High Country

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Ashe, Watauga and Avery counties until 8 AM Friday.

A cold front will sweep across the High Country early Friday morning, but until then rounds of rain will dominate the area. Locations that have repeated rounds of very heavy rainfall could see flash flooding especially in poor drainage areas. Most of the area can expect 1-2” with isolated higher totals.
