CMPD: 35-Year-Old Man Charged With Murder In Fatal North Charlotte Shooting

Detectives have charged Burl Yates, 35, for the murder of Joshua Bullock in north Charlotte.

As a result of continued investigation, detectives say they were able to identify Yates as the suspect in the fatal shooting and arrested him in Rock Hill, S.C. on July 29th.

Police say Yates will be extradited to North Carolina at a later date, and charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in north Charlotte late Sunday night, sparking a homicide investigation, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Officers responded to West Sugar Creek Road around 10:30 p.m. after receiving an assault with deadly weapon call for service. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as Joshua Caleb Bullock, was transported to the hospital by medic where he died due to his injuries a short time later, according to police.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
