CHARLOTTE, NC – A doctor treating Ebola patients in West Africa is now in Charlotte, under close watch for the deadly virus. Dr. John Fankhauser is considered at some risk because of his close contact with Ebola patients.
He arrived in Charlotte after treating people with Ebola in Liberia. We don’t know where in Charlotte he is, but WCCB has been told by the Health Department that he did not arrive at Charlotte-Douglas International.
According to SIM, right now the doctor is healthy and does not show symptoms of Ebola. But the CDC and the county do have strict protocols in place.
That includes checking in with the Health Department and reporting body temperature twice a day. As well as avoiding public transportation and having to get permission to travel outside Mecklenburg County.
