Panthers visit Philly
PHILADELPHIA (AP) β All eyes will be on former Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez tonight who is making his first start in an NFL game since Dec. 30, 2012 as the Eagles entertain the Panthers. Philly starting quarterback Nick Foles is out with and injured collarbone so Sanchez gets the nod from coach Chip Kelly.
The Eagles enter the game in first place in the NFC East with a record of 6-2 while the Panthers are 3-5-1 in the NFC South.
The Eagles, who lead the series between the clubs with five wins in eight games, are coming off a win over the Texans last week while the Panthers were beaten by the Saints. This is the third meeting between the teams in a Monday night game. They split the first two.
NBA-SCHEDULE
Five-game schedule in the NBA tonight
UNDATED (AP) β Following a three-game western road swing, the Cavaliers are back in Cleveland tonight for a game with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Cavs dropped two of the games and are 2-3 on the season while the Pelicans are 3-2.
Indiana has lost six straight after a season-opening victory. Tonight the Pacers are looking to get back on track with a home game against Utah.
The Knicks have dropped four in a row and this evening are home to the Hawks. Atlanta has won two of its first five games this season.
Chicago’s Bulls have the early Central Division lead with a record of 5-2. This evening the Bulls are home to the Pistons, who are 2-4.
And in the final game of the night it’s a good Western Conference matchup in Los Angeles as the Clippers play host to the defending league champion Spurs. San Antonio has dropped three of its first five games while the Clippers are 4-2.
NHL-SCHEDULE
It’s a two game slate
UNDATED (AP) β The two NHL games tonight are being played in Boston and Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Bruins are hosting the Devils in their first meeting of the season. New Jersey won two of the encounters last season, including the lone game in Boston. Tonight’s game brings to an end a three-game road trip for the Devils, who have lost three straight.
At the same time in Raleigh the Hurricanes are facing Calgary. The game puts an end to a five-game road trip for the Flames, who have won four of their last five outings. The Hurricanes are back in action for the first time since losing to Washington on Saturday in a game that put to an end a four-game winning streak for Carolina.
