Below Average Temperatures Heading for the Carolinas

Below average temperatures expected next week across the south

After a stretch of oppressive days, temperatures are forecast to be well below-average as we kick off the first week of August. Below is the 6-10 day temperature outlook issued by the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) which is valid August 5th – August 9th.

The upper-level ridge that brought us the end of July high heat will shift away from the south which will allow temperatures to drop. The first “cold” front will move through Friday evening which will allow highs to return to average through the upcoming weekend. Another cold front will swing across the WCCB Charlotte area on Sunday and allow temperatures to fall even further – in the 80s! While we are not forecasting cool conditions, it will not be as hot. It will also not be 80 and sunny. This downward shift in temperatures does mean more cloud cover and higher rain chances.
