HOUSTON, TX – IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti remains in fair condition tonight following a nasty wreck in Houston on Sunday. Frankeetti’s car went airborne as he tried to make a high-speed pass during the last lap of the race. It slammed into the catch fence as debris rained down on spectators. Crash witness Carl Daniel shot video of the crash as pieces of the car fell on him.

“I would estimate I was less than 10 feet from the actual impact. The fact I’m still here right now is still amazing to me,” Daniel said.

Eleven fans were treated on the scene and paramedics took two others and an official to the hospital. The all were able to go home Monday night. IndyCar officials have promised a thorough investigation.
