Temps Tumble, Rain Chances Rise
Warm sunshine on Monday will give way to rain and much cooler temperatures by midweek.
After a blazing-hot finish to July, where 10 out of the past 11 days were at-or-above 90° in Charlotte, big changes are sliding into the forecast for the first week of August. While the month is starting out on a torrid note, much cooler temperatures and widespread rain chances move in by midweek. However, you’ll be able to enjoy some warm sunshine on Monday as temperatures cruise into the upper 80s in the Piedmont, complemented by cooler breezes from the northeast. The High Country should remain squarely in the 70s.
A moisture-laden rainmaking system will sweep in from the southwest by Tuesday afternoon, bringing widespread showers and storms while sending temperatures tumbling downward. Highs may struggle to get out of the 60s and 70s across the board Tuesday through Thursday as rain maintains a stranglehold on the mid-portions of the week ahead. While scattered storm chances continue into next weekend, expect warmer conditions to return as winds shift back to the southwest.
