Rain Chances Dive, Temperatures Rise

A drier pattern takes hold of the Carolinas to close out the first workweek of August.

Happy Hump Day! After a messy start to the month, drier conditions are moving in as we settle into the back half of the week. With more sunshine on the way, expect temperatures to steadily rise as we head into the weekend. The rainmaking system that moved through the Carolinas on Tuesday has stalled out to our east, bringing another soaker of the day to the coast, but should leave the western half of the twin states mainly dry. For now, highs will remain 5-10° below average in the 70s and lower 80s across the board.

Scattered rain chances return this weekend as a disturbance moves in from the southeast, but most communities should remain under a half-inch through Sunday evening. The sunny pattern resume next week as temperatures climb back into the 80s and 90s.
