Warmer Workweek, Wetter Weekend

It hasn't felt much like August so far this month, but that will change soon.

The cooler temperatures this week have been a nice change of pace, but we can’t expect the relief to last forever. In fact, afternoon highs will generally only increase from here. Expect a beautiful Thursday afternoon as temperatures top out in the upper 80s and 70s in the Piedmont and High Country, respectively. A very stray shower or storm is possible west of the Metro, but most communities will see more sunshine than anything else. Dew points in the upper 50s and lower 60s will make things comfortable outside despite the heat.

Unfortunately, humidity and rain chances will be building back in as we head into the weekend. An area of low pressure will sweep into the Carolinas from the southwest, bringing scattered showers and storms starting Friday night. Most of the rain should clear out by Saturday night, but the humidity and heat will be sticking around for the long haul. Next week is looking hot and humid with highs in the Piedmont in the lower 90s.
