Kannapolis City Schools To Require Masks

KANNAPOLIS, NC – The Kannapolis City Board of Education voted to require masks indoors for all students, staff, and visitors beginning August 10, 2021 during their regular meeting on Monday.

The school system based the decision on changing COVID data in the community.

The board issued a release saying the new recommendation “should result in reducing student and staff quarantines, allowing them to remain in the classroom and to continue participating in extracurricular activities.”

The release continued, “this, paired with other mitigation measures, such as social distancing, air quality improvements in each school, and reducing large assemblies and gatherings, will keep more students learning face-to-face.”

The board of education says it will continue to review the recommendations from the state and local health agencies and will make changes to this requirement when appropriate..
